AIM ITS/QR Code
AIM ITS/QR Code is an International Technical Standard for the QR Code symbology published by the Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility (AIM). It is one of the early symbology specifications that contributed to the international standardization of QR codes, later formalized by ISO/IEC. AIM standards cover symbology identification, conformance testing, and print-quality assessment, providing technical groundwork for consistent QR code generation and reading across devices and industries. As an industry-body specification, AIM ITS/QR Code helped establish the encoding structure, error-correction approach, and quality criteria that automatic-identification systems rely on. Although largely superseded as a primary reference by ISO/IEC 18004, it remains historically significant as a foundational document in the development of the modern, globally interoperable QR Code standard.
